o1. There will be a contest every two (2) weeks, since it can be time consuming to write poems. o2. Each poem should be a minimum of 4 lines, but no longer than 35 lines (unless otherwise stated). o3. Submit only work that is your own, unless the theme involves making a 'found' poem. o4. Please respect all other members and their works. As artists of language and literature, I assume that all of you know the power of words, whether they be beautiful or harmful. o5. Please, NO MISPELLINGS! This may seem like a really nitpicky rule, but as my english teacher said, "Poetry cannot bear mispellings." A mispelled word will ruin the flow of your poem. Make good use of the spell-check and please proofread! :) However, it is acceptable to have mispellings if it is intentional. o6. You may submit up to three (3) poems for each contest. However, I would prefer that they each are significantly different in style and/or structure. Variation makes the contests more interesting. :) o7. Poems do not have to rhyme! Unless we are having a structure challenge where rhyming is part of the poem type, you may write free verse poems! :) o8. Please make your poems "fresh" for each contest! That means using works you've created in the past is NOT allowed. The reason for this is that I want you to compete using your current writing abilities.
Rules are subject to grow, or even change. This poetry competition is still rather new, and I tend to forget about certain issues that may come up. If something comes up that has not been addressed, please don't hesitate to mention it! Post any questions anywhere here! :)

+Please submit your poem in this manner:
TITLE Author (whatever name you want to be used for credit) Poem
+After the submission period has ended, all poems will be posted anonymously and members will vote (also anonymously) on the poems. Because I feel that it is difficult to classify a certain poem as the "best", the members will vote on specific qualities of the poems. The categories are as follows:
Most Rhythmic Best Rhyme Scheme Most Descriptive Most Emotional Most Humorous Most Original Subject Best Assonance Best Alliteration Most Meaningful
+The categories will be chosen according to the poems received for each contest. Obviously, we cannot have 6 categories if only 5 poems are submitted. Also, some of the above categories will not apply to certain contests and may be replaced with a more relevant category. There will always be fewer categories than there are poems, for the sake of competition ;)
+If 7 or more poems are submitted, the mod will award one poem (that has not already won) with Mod's Choice.
